RELIGIOUS OVERVIEW

Our firm’s earliest projects included church work, and over the years we have become a well-recognized and respected contractor in religious construction. Our experience encompasses a wide variety of denominations as well as different types of services, including new church construction, additions to existing churches and church/school buildings, and extensive interior renovations including sanctuary alterations, narthex remodeling, classroom and gymnasium work.

SACRED SPACES

When a church community undertakes a construction project, the project has great meaning to its congregation. Sensitivity to the specific issues involved in creating “sacred spaces” is a specialty in which Nicholas & Associates excels. We recognize the symbolic nature of the work we do as well as the historical relevance that will be left behind long after our efforts are completed. Our church clients are some of our most loyal in requesting repeat business, and they cite our respect, sensitivity, and integrity among the top reasons why they continue to call on us.

ACCOMMODATING CHURCH LIFE

Often, budgetary and location constraints don’t allow for the temporary re-location of a congregation during construction. Nicholas & Associates incorporates the daily activities of church life into the project schedule and mobilization. Safety of parishioners and church staff is of primary importance, as is accommodating special activities and services that may take place during the course of a construction project. Our field superintendents monitor the job site for cleanliness and OSHA standards on a daily basis. Regular communication between the client and our project team members allows us to be aware of any changes in the church’s activity or program schedule and make the necessary adjustments to the construction activities.

EDUCATIONAL OVERVIEW

Our firm’s earliest projects included educational facilities, and we have continued to maintain a visible presence in school construction work throughout the Chicagoland area. Whether your project involves an elementary school, middle school, high school, or university campus, we have a proven track record of successful projects and satisfied clients to attest to our abilities. We have completed additions, renovations and remodeling, Life Safety compliance, and FAA soundproofing work for a growing list of school district clients.

SAFETY FIRST

Safety is a top priority on every Nicholas & Associates project, but in a school environment it becomes even more crucial. Construction schedules and techniques are specifically arranged to prevent any circumstance that may pose a threat to the well being of faculty and students. In addition, we are willing and able to rise to the challenge of accommodating the daily activities of a busy school. A professional field superintendent will be on the job site at all times, and will coordinate the ongoing work to prevent program disruption. Our repeat school district clients will attest to the fact that we do “whatever it takes” to maximize safety and minimize interference with the academic activities of the school.

FORM AND FUNCTION

Construction in educational settings encompasses many different types of work, requiring expertise and familiarity with a wide variety of specialties and disciplines. Schools require classroom additions and renovations, libraries and resource centers, computer and science labs, cafeteria and kitchen upgrades, gymnasiums, locker rooms, and swimming pools. Site construction can mean new parking areas, ball fields, playground equipment, and basketball or tennis courts. Nicholas & Associates is experienced in all these areas, enabling us to provide a finished product that is not only aesthetically appealing, but highly functional. We have the very students and faculty that will be working and learning in the completed facility in mind every step of the way so that we never loose sight of the ultimate purpose of the project.

DESIGN / BUILD

In Design/Build we provide both design and construction services to the owner, utilizing Nicholas & Associates as the contractor and Nepco as the architect.  Using our in-house licensed architects, Nepco is able to work with the owner to design, evaluate, and price the building.  The design architect then follows the project through the construction phase as the project manager.  Having a single source of responsibility for both the design and construction allows for accelerated project delivery because of the overlapping phases and the continuous execution of the project.
